well...first of all doctor ...bersyukur pada Tuhan i don't have diabetes ...but, i have to admit that i myself is so conscious about the types / volume of medicine i take ...reasons? maybe i've heard so many negative rumours or gossips on what the medicine can do to us if we take them very regularly ...or im just being me ...overly conscious :)

Dr Redduan said...

To my first anonymous, Hi

It is okay to be conscious... that medicine can have adverse effects to our body....so try your best not to get sick at the first place...

But from our recent advances in medicine...we benefit a lot...newer medicines with less side effect....there is always strict control of release of any new medicine....think of herbs or other alternatives that do not go strict process before being used worldwide

Ask the doctor about side effects...but do not misunderstand you will get all of those being mentioned....we monitor and intervene early...

But again, if your ailing body need something to correct them...urgently before serious complication arise...when other measures fails...please consider

discuss them further with your doctor...
good doctor do not lie...always being misunderstood maybe due to lack of good communication skills..

negative rumors or gossips...those are not always true things...

my mother is taking her medicine very faithfully( i mean with faithfully is she's taking the medicine by following the doctor's advise )...and she's doing just fine ...alhamdulilah ....

on the other hand , my aunty and uncle were very stubborn (biasa la org tua kan )...sukati jak berapa biji ubat maok makan dan sukati waktu ...they were frequently end up lying on the hospital bed ..as their niece , turun nait hospital juak lah kmk lawat sidak ...

my personal opinion ...sik salah selalu makan ubat tapi mesti ikut guidelines dari doctor..god willing , you 'll be just fine ...

Doctor,i think Malaysian people tend to see those herbs as nutritious and healthy ...just like fruits and buah-buahan ....and they also tend to see medicine as chemically dangerous ...thats why they dont mind to take herbs as many as possible...because unlike medicine, they perceive herbs as purely healthy ..

Hi Lana....
Your mother surely must have a good and positive motivation to be around with other brothers and sisters who are not that motivated...Family support from you all is a big issue and a great help to her ...congrats...your mum is a lucky person to have you all.

There must be reasons for the lack of motivation that your uncle and aunty are having...

By the way...thank you for the comment.

Hi again anonymous the first..

Yes you are true...herbs are healthier options...and sadly many believe they are 100% safe...

But take a look at this link..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_herbs_with_known_adverse_effects

Again herbs are good and healthier alternatives...but nowadays there is a booming industry; that is ORGANIC FOOD...i am a great fan of it and i personally think that this is rather more safer alternative than herbs from unskilled practitioner...

just for your info...how bad an unknown 'makjun' can be to your body...long term use of it can break your hip bone...i have seen them at many occasions during my service in government hospital...

again thank you for your discussion.

hi doctor!

actually this is a different question. you know, i never heard of a case they called as 'kandungan luar rahim' aif i'm not wrong and i dont know what's that, and how that can happen. and WHY are there (in certain cases) the women who ahve that kinda problem cannot survive?

Dr Redduan said...

Hi Nurul

No problem, i will answer...
Sure you started to know the term after one of your relative or somebody you know got it....

It is a very tragic event sometimes if the kandungan burst in the abdomen (perut)...My mother has survived one of this serious problem...It can take someone live just like that...

So it is a true pregnancy but the traveling embryo failed to reach the correct place in the womb...as a result it can bleeds or burst in the pelvic region causing pain and vaginal bleeding or life threatening events sometimes...

So take note on your menstrual cycle changes and discuss with your doctor if you have any problem with them... to the possible-to-get pregnant lady, you may be pregnant and you never know that you are...until kandungan luar rahim show up and cause problem...i understand...at some situation it is difficult to detect them early...

Oh ya...those who cannot survive is because they bleeds massively in the abdomen....internal bleeding...hope this short article answer your question

“Be careful — while drugs can give you instant relief from the symptoms of your illness, they often do little to cure the disease itself. Don’t be fooled — medicine doesn’t cure chronic diseases. In the long run, they could even be bad for you”

Hi doctor , I’ve come across to this term/ statement as above…could u please kindly clarify?

Dr Redduan said...

Hi Sydney...this is the statement you will come across in the net or even people on the street will tell you this...i try my best to explain...

Chronic diseases are diseases that have no good chances to have a complete cure...some can be cured with aggressive intervention like surgery, complete turn around of lifestyle and remain consistent with it until aging effect comes in...and maybe some pray and miracle..every disease is different with the others so as the intervention

There are long lists of them:
Diabetes, Hypertension, Kidney Disease, Asthma, Osteoarthritis, SLE, Psychiatric Illness etc.

What we do in medical treatment is to achieve control of damaging ill effects of the disease and therefore provide improvement of quality of life and reaching total cure whenever possible...This needs long term treatment and follow ups...not something like touch and go...

I do agree...some medicine cause adverse effect at long term use...But we follow up and manage accordingly...

I have come across people self medicated themselves for their chronic disease by purchasing steroids and painkiller medication over the counter....Have you ask and interact with the people at the counter long enough about your medicine and are you seeing the same pharmacist all along who knows your medicine history ...not to disrespect our fellow friends in the pharmacy side...some circumstances we are helpless....then you end up getting the complication...

Again communication with your doctor is vital before you make judgment and decision...

We doctors surely will tell you painkillers are not good for your kidney....long term steroid usage has some bad effect to your bone,... certain group of hypertension medicine is not good for certain group of people...

We decide after balancing the good effect and the adverse side of it...again the final decision is yours my fellow clients....

By the way...Near total cure for chronic disease as i mentioned earlier...are as follow...to name a few; kidney transplant in chronic kidney failure, Prosthetic joint replacement in Osteoarthritis, Stop smoking, Disease modifying drugs in certain internal medicine diseases is there as an options....

One more thing....Healthy lifestyle and healthy lifestyle and healthy lifestyle...please do your best.

Alternative medicine...I am not against them but please do not just ignore that if there is something wrong with your body and you have been trying to get around it your way...and there are still no significant improvement...but getting from bad to worse...please consider a chat with your doctor..again the final say is yours...

hope this answer is not that lengthy for you Sydney...

so u mean like the zygote is implanted outside the uterus(or is it uretus?-confused hahah :D)
if it's not implanted in that particular place, where does this zygote/embryo/womb/'anything-u-name-it' travels??

okay, so this thing CAN burst and will affect the abdomen if it bursts (seriously that will hurt).

so if these women suffered from that kind of cases, i mean for those who can survive, do they still have the chance to get pregnant again?

i think I almost get what u meant doctor. these women have to get rid of the wrongly-imnplanted babies and they go through 'misscarriage',no? but yeah, i'm asking because you know, some cases can cause women to suffer from infertility.well, how about this case?

and by the way thanks!

your reply /answer is definitely lengthier than your recent entry :)
Thank you ...

Hi Azizi, Nurul Hidayah and Sydney

Yalah...sik dapat nak datang ilham selalu gilak berblog tuk...sometime jammed kepala tuk sikit sik tau what topic will be a good topic....cheers

To Nurul...yes in some situation, ectopic pregnancy (kandungan luar rahim) can cause infertility but not so common....because if one fallopian tube is damaged in the past by the the ectopic pregnancy...we still have another one...God is Great.
Uterus is the correct word.
Ectopic pregnancy can be in the Fallopian tube, ovary or even in the abdomen, outside pelvic spaces.
Yes the experience can be very painful..and even can cause death...

To sydney...i read my comment again...sounded a little bit tenseful and serious..ha..haa (i personally think that way)...sorry...:)...
by the way...a lot of people do ask me that question/statements...try to find ways to explain them in a good way...thank you so much.
