Assalamualaikum and good day semua,
I have been thinking of sharing few illnesses that i myself suffered which we can share ideas of controling or managing them....the first illness that i want to expose ...ha...ha...macam rahsia pulak....is my Allergic Rhinitis.
Image from;http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0S020ncOttKeicAyy.jzbkF/SIG=12m9jfbtv/EXP=1255967836/**http%3A//www.natural-health.com.my/content.php%3Fcat=51%26pageid=121
Bahasa kita orang Malaysia ialah Resdung...but it is always misdefined.
Okay..let us accept the fact that Resdung means problematic nose, or sensitive nose or smells from breath due to nose discharge, or greenish persistent discharge (hingus) from nose, or to some people means penyakit yang menyebabkan tumbuh jerawat batu di sekitar hidung....yang bila dirawat secara tradisional akan keluar 'ulat-ulat' kecil dari kulit muka....yang dipercayai ulat penyebab resdung.
Then medically, we divide so called Resdung into... basically 2 types; Allergic Rhinitis & Sinusitis.
Sinusitis is probably the best description for Resdung.
If you have Allergic Rhinitis or sensitive nose (for simple explanation...banyak lagi jenis rhinitis ni sebenarnya) you will experienced these....
Morning symptoms (tanda) that dissapear towards afternoon. Ini termasuk, bersin, hidung gatal, selesema (running nose), berhingus berlebihan (increase in discharge, it can be clear to greenish)
Symptoms can reappear if exposed in large amount with dust, cold weather or environment for example in cold aircond room, pollen (debunga) in 4 season countries.
You will not have signs of infection like fever or cough and generalized body pain. Or in other words you are not sick.
Sinusitis pula;
Stuffy nose or hidung sumbat dengan hingus/mucus yang hijau atau kekuningan dan pekat
Facial bone pain atau sakit bila ditekan tulang pipi
Headache or facial bone pain when stooping down or tunduk kepala sakit tulang pipi
with or without fever....can cause bad breath
My Experience;
I am troubled with chronic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis (vasomotor type) since i were schooling in secondary school. Every day i have to bring 1 box of tissue with me and every morning after taking bath until 12 noon, i will be accompanied by my good friends;
sneezing every 20 minutes, running nose, greenish mucos discharge and red ithcy eyes.
Malu and low self esteem semua ada, nak concentrate in class also difficult. Apa lagi bad breath..
So my father bring me to see ENT specialist after failing many types of medication that only control the flu like symptoms.
My nose and its deep cavity explored and cleaned during visits that i have to follow every 3 months. No surgery involved. I was asked to get this nasal spray medication every day and i use them faithfully every day and night....
Only after 6 months later i got some relieve and near total cured after 1 year...Alhamdullilah.
Now my allergic rhinitis comes and goes but not that severe and controlled with medication.
This is what you should do and practice if you have these problem...
to be continued....

Raya Tips
Assalammualaikum and selamat beraya semua
Some tips to remember during visiting raya open house..ha..ha...of course it is all about eating
1. Please remember that you will easily gain back your weight or put extra pounds during this festive season. (to create awareness)
2. Please ask for non carbonated drinks if you think it can be done...for example maybe just a plain water. Or, ask the owner of the house not to serve full glass of drink, instead, maybe one third or 'sikit' only. (if carbonated or sweet drinks is unavoidable)
3. Take only small bite of your 'favourite cake' or maybe share them with your friend. (moderation)
4. Go for 'biskut raya' rather than calorie rich cake
5. Healthy option; nuts...and ....thats all i can think of...ha..ha..
6. Interact, talk more when you are in the house...to distract you from eating a feast...(not all can do that, I understand)...remember the reason we visit friends and relatives
7. You can skip your ordinary meal like lunch and dinner...but not the breakfast. Please take your breakfast before visiting so that you wont be feeling that hungry and do the uncontrolled things.
8. If you have this medicine called 'Xenical', you can take it before you feast on heavy sets of meal...the rendang, ayam masak merah, daging kurma or masak hitam...to name a few...(talk and ask your doctor first before taking it)
9. Be active...i know you will burn calorie less than what you take during raya visits...but still better than nothing...for example...park you car at the roadside and walk, walk and walk. If possible stationed your car at one site and cover all the houses in vicinity by just walking, carrying your child et cetera.
10. oh ya...you can use medical reason for excuse not to eat or drink unhealthy thing..for example...my doctor said i should control my eating because i have diabetes, if not i have to go for injection...ha..ha...everybody are scared of 'injection'...so as the house owner...believe me they will understand you..or you can create other medical excuse...'bohong sunat'...
okay guys...enjoy your holiday and hope this raya will bring more meaning to us spiritually and physically...

Am I going to depend on medicine for the rest of my life?
Hi everybody...quite busy nowadays with my clinic admin work and promo...felt like to update my blog but do not have the quality time to think of my next topic that i would be very happy to share them with you....
I am frequently asked about these questions in clinic...
Yes the stigma is there ans sticks strong...
Once you start taking hypertension pill or diabetes pill, you will not able to stop taking it for the rest of your life!
Better delay taking medicine because you will depend on it forever!
Medicine will kill you by its side effects if you start them very early in your life!
These statements is very common, especially when friends or relatives get together to start discussing of their health. Furthermore, our eastern culture does have some ill feeling about modern medicine nowadays and thinks that they can rely completely with herbs and traditional medicine alone for every type of illness.
Do you want me to answer these questions for you...?
of course I will...
First
Most of us do not understand or not being informed that most of the disease that requires long term therapy are chronic disease.
What chronic means?...It means something that happens within long period of time...the starting of the chronic disease is slow maybe left unnoticed by us. In addition, it progress over a long period of time. They can be completely cured or occasonally having ups and downs. They can worsens over time and leads to severe complication if left untreated or poorly controlled. These means hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, chronic hepatitis (liver disease) and joints disease, for examples, are included as chronic disease.
Chronic disease needs long term management plans and follow up.
Second point,
When we are on long term medicine like hypertension pills or diabetes medication, we always thinks that we are already fully protected....So we tend to forget that we need to maintain and practise healthy lifestyle like eating healthily, exercise regularly, try to have enough rest and clears ourselves from high tension surroundings or situations. Stop smoking or excessive alcohol consumption will help definitely.
I have come across many times that losing weight healthily will improve a lot of things...
Again...some of us will think that....oh i am on medication...strong and expensive one...why worry?
Then in that case you will definitely never improve your health and please accepts that you need the medicine forever now to somehow counter or balance the ill effects of all the unhealthy lifestyle that you involves in. Do you think this is a good idea?
Yes some client tell me that they have followed all the healthy lifestyle tips and rules, but still there is no end to their medicine.
To explain this...i am very sorry to say that..somehow after we reach a certain age, the bad genetics from our family tree will have more influences. But never give up please my friends...you never know God will answer our prayers and make things easier for us mentally or physically to go about this life. I keep reminding myself, every pain that we endure in this life hopefully is part of returns that we get for our wrong doings in the past so that our afterlife will hopefully be a lighter journey....(just a personal opinion)
Third points,
Why delay your medication if your body is already taking all the ill effects of the disease.
Yes it is now very common that young people already have hypertension and heart disease.
Of course, please support your friends when you know that they have to take medicine for chronic disease at young age. Do not discourage them because delay of receiving treatment can be too late at times.
Yes maybe we are too worried of side effects.
But my friends...some doctors will tell you this
If you try to balance between the mild tolerable expected side effects that we can observe and intervene when necessary WITH the complications that may arise from delaying to receive medication....the result is very obvious. For example; HEART ATTACK and STROKE as compared to leg swelling, bodyache, thinning of blood, dizziness....what will be your answer.
Of course your doctor will be aware of the side effects and will folow you up for that reason and intervenes when necessary. But do not underestimate the serious major complications especially if you have family history of the deadly complications. Mind you, some of the complications is irreversible or not able to be treated if we present late for treatment, for example heart failure where your heart swells and loss its normal funtion to pump blood effectively through out your body. Or Kidney Failure follows after uncontrolled diabetes or long standing hypertension in which if no organ donors available, we will have to sit on the dialysis chair for 4 hours receiving needle and tube on our arm and letting the machine purify your blood on every alternate days.

I am not to scare you my friends but please discuss these further with your doctors okay.
Again point no 4,
All medicines have side effects, even taking Panadol, if your body is allergic to it, you will easily land in ICU bed for a week.
Again not my intention to frightened you...talk with your doctors about side effects of the medicine you are taking. Your doctor will guide you of what to observe for and discuss of ways and means to modify the treatment.
Beware....do not think that medical medicine are the only one that have side effects. Nowadays we start to discover that even herbs and supplements are having similar problem.
Last time scientist do not bother to do research on herbs and supplements so we assume that everything is safe. And instead, medicine that undergo extensive scientific reserch worldwide are obliged to report of any side effects to the public. As for herbs and supplements, due to lack of research we are not adequately informed of possible side effects or if we overdose the amount what will happens to us.
Just imagine one afternoon you go to pick up roots in the jungle to prepare for health remedy soups for your friends...but DO you know how much amount of them you suppose to use...will you overdosing your ill friends...Are there any side effects of them that you are not aware of.....Just something to think about...I will elaborate further in my next writings then.
Okay...so much things for tired minds..huh...
Take home the message if there is anything related to you
Feel free to ask any question as well....
By the way...take care.

Spoiled Medicine
Hi,
It has been a while that this blog of mine ...not updated!! sorry for that...
But thanks to the followers...you kept me going, so I want to continue blogging on behalf of Klinik Cahaya and my life..Thank you...not so much of my life for now....
Topic for this time is preventing your medicine from damages while keeping them at home
Yes i know probably topics in this blog can be quite boring but my intention is to give and share whatever good information that i know to you... in keeping with good health..
By the way.........Gong Xi Fa Chai for our chinese friends and let the new year ahead be a prosperous one to all of you and you..........................as healthy as an ox...
OK...simple truth is medicine can get spoiled easily, by extreme heat, sunlight and humidity.
Tips no 1
Most of medicine must be stored in a room temperature below 30 degrees. Watch out your house room temperature. If your house is airconditioned every daytime, then it should not be a problem. If not, especially if your house is a double storey house without hot air ventilation and not airconditioned at noon, the medicine that you store in your bedroom upstairs probably next to your bed might be destroyed by afternoon heat. Usually the upper storey is hotter than the lower one as the hot air always travels up.
Yes we know that keeping it near us in bed especially the vitamins, contraceptive pills or the anticholesterol pills, is very convenient but taking spoiled medicine can be hazardous to our health instead. So keep them at lower ground or in your fridge as some people have a mini fridge in their bedroom.
In short, heat can destroy our medicine and we should keep them at the temperature below 30 degrees. Having said that, leaving your medicine in your car that you park under direct sun at noon during your lunch break is not a good idea also.
Tips no 2
Do not keep your medicine in bathroom medicine cabinet. Maybe this is more common in the western countries because they do have a small cabinet behind the face mirrors. Why? Because the air in the bathroom is too humid...not good for the medicine. Mold and fungus can grow on the them in such environment. So what about the fridge? Yes we have to control the humidity of our fridge as well. If you are not too sure about how safe or how humid your fridge is, then do not store them there.
Tips no 3
Keep your medicine or vitamins in their original bottles. This is important because the bottles that is usually used are amber glass bottle is the best protection for your medicines against sunlight.
So extreme temperature, exposure to sunlight and humid environment does no good to your pills.

Below is a typical way of some of us put their medicine or vitamins.
Near our bed ...of course.
Those are part of my medicine and vitamins...Recognize them?
My bedroom is on the lower ground so it is okay for me to do that...he..he..
Bye for now..
Eat in moderation during this festive season...
Tighten our ties with others that we call them friends and the special one.
